I remember reading this book for the first time over fifteen years ago with my sister. This book holds a lot of nostalgia for me and is also one of the best Young Adult books I have ever read. Cirque Du Freak is the frightening saga of a young boy whose visit to a mysterious freak show leads him on a journey into a dark world of vampires.
Darren O'Shaughnessy, who commonly writes under the pen name Darren Shan, published the first book in the Cirque Du Freak series on June 1st of 2002 with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. Darren Shan is an Irish author as well as the main character in O'Shaughnessy's The Saga of Darren Shan young adult fiction series, also known as the Cirque Du Freak series. Darren was born July 2nd of 1972 in London, England. He is the author of the series The Demonata, The Saga of Larten Crepsley, and Zom-B. He has also released the stand-alone novel, The Thin Executioner, and the stand-alone short novels, Koyasan, and Hagurosan. Plus, for adults, he released The City Trilogy (originally under the name of D.B. Shan), and Lady of the Shades. He is also known for writing books for adults under the name Darren Dash.
